The European Refugee Crisis and Syria Explained

Background Information
This video was created by a collective of scientists, journalists and musicians known as Kurzgesat. It was uploaded to YouTube on 09/17/15
Technique Used
Respond to Audience Needs
This is propaganda because
A case is being made for the audience to support Syrian refugees in Europe. It is beneficial because xenophobic fears are refuted with facts. They are advocating acceptance of refugees into other countries and for audience donations to the UN.

This video really hit home with me which is one of the reasons why I said it was beneficial. Is does a great job explaining in terms easy to understand what exactly is going on in Syria and why we should help these people.

The music is kinda touching, child-ish, simple and likeable - but subtly dramatic. Using the cartoon form is suggestive itself, as if the nature of the topic is not harmful to the viewer, not "dangerous" in it's core, calling out our inner child's response. It's also very colorful (arousing positive implications). This whole technique has an impact on the viewer. The speaker is opposing all this, talking in serious deep tone of voice, telling about the troubles of the people. Linguistically, words and expressions chosen have a huge impact - for example people opposing the influx do not say refugees, but immigrants. Linguistically this video is pretty explicit about the stance it is promoting.
Not to suggest a specific stance but - it is well known that the dead Syrian boy on the famous picture that circulated the world, was not on his original position when found. His body was literally taken to another location, and put into a position to make that same famous picture. That is another example of propaganda.
