Child Smoke

Background Information
This is an ad created by PETA that appeared around UK in 2013, but it was taken down quickly because it had unproven claims.

Technique Used
Activate Emotion
This is propaganda because
This is propaganda because it plays on emotions by showing of a baby smoking a cigarette. You wouldn`t let your kid smoke a cigarette and that is how they play on emotions so you will associate meat with something negative.

I guess it is beneficial to provoke emotions, which would make a change...

this propaganda is either beneficial or harmful to me because it has a point. they are showing the negative effects of too much meat for a child but still this propaganda can provoke many people and can cause many arguments

This is beneficial to all. It convince the adults not to let their children smoke because it increases the risk of heart disease and cancer. Cigarettes have a harmful effect on our body so you must not try it.

I would say that this is beneficial because it spread usefeul information to all people. It could even prevent cancer like smoking

I think this photo is somewhat harmful in the sense that it portrays a baby smoking. I think there could definitely be other logically ways to promote veganism rather than to compare it to a baby smoking. In some people's eyes, eating meat is bad and harmful but I disagree in the fact that you have similar effects to smoking. I think it's poor propaganda when you portray something in such a negative way, when it doesn't even equal what you're comparing it to in the slightest if that makes sense.

Not a fan of this one. It is propaganda, since it furthers a lame pro-vegan agenda. It's harmful since it insinuates a stretch of the truth. Eating meat, in excess, can lead to heart disease and cancer, but if you just keep it moderate then it's fine and won't cause any harm. It makes it out to seem like meat is one sole thing that can cause bad stuff, when it's just as beneficial or harmful as any other food

I don't really think this one is good. I think it's harmful to compare smoking to eating meat, even though they both could cause cancer, eating meat in moderate amounts won't really hurt you. I think it's a poor attempt at propaganda to compare those two.

I think this is harmful because it falsely makes people believe that eating meat has a similar carcinogenic effect as smoking, which is false. Especially since many organic meats have had no association between them and cancer.

It definitely is propaganda, it is playing to peoples emotions with words and pictures to change a large group of people's perceptions about eating meat. This one seems very poorly done because it does not focus people initially on the matter of eating meat which is their goal. It does not present clear information about eating meat and the information they do present is inaccurate. I guess I would say its harmful because it is presenting inaccurate information through emotional appeals. But I also do not see how it would be that effective because its not focused on meat.

This is a harmful piece of propaganda, and a poor one at that. It plays with your emotions with the child smoking and how abhorrent the image is. It equates eating meat with smoking, when eating a normal amount of meat is healthy. Not all of the information is there and there isn't even an image on meat on the poster.

This does not encourage independent judgement. It does not present scientific studies or figures with which a person can come to their own conclusion about wether eating meat is as harmful. It uses facts and information selectively to persuade the audience. I would say that even though it is propaganda, it attempts to achieve the wellbeing of it's audience and it spreads a "beneficial" message. However, because it doesn't show any science to back their statement, I think it is easier for people to dismiss it as fake and it therefore doesn't achieve it's goal.

I believe that this picture is in between harmful and not harmful because they used a baby as an example and people did not really enjoy this ad because it was published outside of social media and parents were afraid that their children would see the baby smoking and would follow the baby's footsteps.

This is bad. People look at this and think it's about smoking, but its about veganism. It also might make people think smoking is ok. Because if they're told meat is heallth and this puts smoking and meat in the same catagory of "badnes".
