The Truth about ISIS - UK Propaganda campaign

Background Information
This is a propaganda campaign implemented by the UK government to deter young UK citizens from radicalisation. It was introduced to counter ISIS propaganda circulating the UK. The Programme called RICU disguised the fact it was introduced by the Government and The Guardian state this could undermine its efforts.
Technique Used
Attack Opponents
This is propaganda because
This is propaganda as it is attacking its opponents, activating emotion and simplifying ideas.
For example the screenshot of the website shows that the campaign is attacking ISIS and revealing everything bad they have done. It is activating emotion as it states 80 children died last year fighting for ISIS and also states women have been assaulted with metal instruments. This information has been simplified with no counter argument, no information on how the fight against ISIS may have also harmed citizens and no information on how the deaths and assaults occurred. The simplified information however makes the message easier to digest and supports the campaigns motives to counter radicalisation.
This is beneficial as it is attempting to stop extremism. However some may argue the Governments involvement with the campaign group is harmful as it has not been made transparent and may therefore undermine the message and cause anger and damage trust with the communities it is trying to target.
