I love this. It catches the viewers attention because you instantly wonder: What is this?! Rather than the over-the-top obnoxious message to stop viewing, it plays on a subtle, low-key delivery. It reminds me of the phrase, "You will catch more bees with honey." It is visually illustrating the harmful effects of smoking and the long term result.

Growing up in a family full of smokers and classic games, I believe this is a very powerful message. It feeds of of my knowledge of what smoking can do to your health as well as how easy it is to trigger it, much like the cigarette hitting the dot. I think this is very strong as propaganda, motivating people to keep their bodies safe.

This piece of media is propaganda because it wants to influence smokers to stop and discourage anyone from beginning to smoke. It is a beneficial photograph because more people will become healthier if they stop smoking. The media is selling the message by using something familiar to people (video games) to help stop a familiar problem (smoking). It is using the emotional appeal of plainfolks because most everyone knows that smoking is harmful and most everyone has played a video game.

The propaganda is showing a pixel set of lungs and the source is smoking cigarettes followed by the small comment "Quit Smoking". It is a harmful propaganda message because its showing that our lungs are important and that cigarettes are harmful. By going into the new modern belief that cigarettes overall aren't helpful, the "seller" of their creation acts upon those who don't like smoking, were around smoking, once smoked, or lost someone to it. This message is appealed to association, the association with the problems that come with smoking.

This qualifies as propaganda through advertising. It is beneficial to people that smoke or want to fit in so they start to smoke but harmful to tobacco companies. They're selling the message by catching your eye because it's a fun game until you see the point of it. The emotional appeal is social fears, many people think it's cool to smoke but when they see ads like this they may see that it is fun and cool to smoke but after it becomes more and more harmful.

I agree with Lance M. when he says this uses an appeal to force because this ad is giving things to you very straightforward and basically tells you "if you ignore this ad I won't hurt you, you will hurt yourself." I would have to disagree when he says that this is propaganda because it influences you not to smoke anymore. I would be more specific and say this ad immediately causes an emotional reaction of fear and force. It gets you to think the way they want you to, but in this case its good.

I agree with Lance M. because the propaganda is portraying an image that wants to stop smoking and is beneficial to promote non-smoking community. I feel that force is not the appeal though. Association is a better appeal because you relate to stories of smoking, usually negative.

This ad is propaganda because it uses the image of an old video game to allow older generations to relate to and it is persuading people to quit smoking. This is beneficial to society. The propagandist is selling the message by taking an old video game that everyone knew and turning into an ad that is against smoking. This appeals to associations because the game is destroying blocks and the propagandist is associating the destruction of the lungs caused by smoking with the game.

this could be classified as propaganda by showing the reader how a cigarette can slowly destroy your lungs. this is beneficial to society by showing them the real harm of smoking. the message is selling propaganda by showing a cigarette bouncing a ball at a persons lungs slowly taking it out. the emotion this message would give to its reader or person who looked at is fear. The reason it is showing the emotion fear is because a person could look at that a be deterred from smoking.

I think this is a beneficial use of propaganda because it is positively impacting a good social movement - a movement against cigarettes. Propaganda has been used to gain women's suffrage, human rights, and more. It can definitely be used to educate people of the many dangers of smoking. This image could also attract teenagers who enjoy video games, which makes the image very useful in gaining the attention of one of cigarette's target audience.

This one is an awesome concept. This is game that a lot of people have probably experienced, even if they are not professional gamers. Appealing to a specified audience is good propaganda though, because with a target audience who will definitely understand the context, they can better identify and interpret the message along with internalizing it.

This is another anti-smoking ad. This time, it appeals to younger people by associating it with a video game. Like in the game, the cigarette chips away at the white blocks, which are the lungs.
