Netflix Tax

Background Information
This was a Twitter post that seems to be asking people to protest proposed taxes in the state of Oklahoma.
Technique Used
Activate Emotion
This is propaganda because
People are attracted to the cute little Netflix icon and have fond feelings for the service. Might discourage people from thinking about why tax money is needed to support hospitals, build roads, education, etc.

I am very mixed on this. People LOVE their Netflix and I think it would be easy for Netflix to use propaganda to sway their readers into doing something that probably deserves more research. Taxing Netflix might be used for education money for example; shouldn't that be laid out as well?

Due to the fact that Netflix plays a big part in the life of many people in America because many people purchase and use it, this propaganda is a great way to attract and engage an audience and capture their emotion because it includes something that affects a common product they are paying for.

I agree with the description, but I feel they should mention how it also oversimplifies the idea. I'm surprised by how many people read this is beneficial.

I do not think this is beneficial or harmful. I think that it is clever and cute, but do not think it promotes any sort of specific action or persuades one to take a specific side.

This is a silly little cartoon trying to "scare" people into being against a tax on Netflix, an arguably beloved service. It ignores why, exactly, Netflix may face this tax or what it may benefit, but it's pretty neutral and relatively harmless.

Netflix is antroporphasized here. Pictured with eyes and eyebrows lowered on their outer ends (universally a sign of fear - or gratitude - but any way a sign of a submission), and with one hand waving (for help or attention) and the other holding a flower bouquet - western's symbol for peace, love, the very best intentions. Netflix is our friend, says this commercial, and it is endangered. Surrounding color of pink is gentle and mellow, but the red screen of Netflix is burning especially with those eyes above it.
