Hong Kong's subdivided flats
Background Information
Most of the visitors just know the prosperous side of Hong Kong, but they often know the poor condition of the grassroots. The living space in subdivided flats is very limited, the tenants can just do everything in the same space. The grassroots are only able to afford the rent of subdivided flats as they are not rich enough to buy private flats or waiting for the public rental housing. Indeed, the rent of subdivided flats is not cheap.
Technique Used
Respond to Audience Needs
This is propaganda because
the poor living condition cannot meet the basic needs of people according to Maslow's hierarchy of needs. The suffocating living conditions cannot give people a sense of safety and rest. The audience would be shocked by the picture as Hong Kong is well-known for its properity.
