Monuments as Propaganda

Background Information
Protesters around the Robert E Lee statue on Monument Avenue in Richmond, Virginia. Richmond’s mayor has said the statue will be removed this month. Monuments to confederate generals are a form of propaganda created at a time in American history when black people were actively oppressed. Valorizing the "lost cause" theory of the confederacy served to empower white people and terrorize African Americans throughout the American South.
Technique Used
Activate Emotion
This is propaganda because
