Propaganda shared by authorities and celebrities is always impactful, but I think in this case, disinformation shared by Madonna is particularly dangerous. Madonna has an extreme level of name recognition in our society, even amongst people who don't know much about her and therefore don't have a solid impression. Name recognition without background knowledge typically gains someone trustworthiness, which in this case, can paint her as a reliable figure to speak on covid. She plays on people's desire for a vaccine and their fear and mistrust of authority figures. This may have reinforced the beliefs of those who already felt this way, and possibly swayed the opinions of people who weren't sure what to think, towards misinformation.
