While the reporting itself may not qualify as propaganda, the underlying assumption is that media outlets must survive as businesses. That seems to me to be a very inside view. Why should journalism be spared the disruptions that have upended so many other industries? For all the talk about journalists’ sacred role to inform the public, there is nothing that guarantees that journalism will continue to exist in a form that is recognizable to its 20th century practitioners.

This is definitely beneficial, as most people have no clue that when they are reading branded content, they are reading ads and not news stories.

It is amazing to see how far media has come. Ads are almost all online now and it is cutting jobs. This video is really eye opening! They think advertisers are taking over for journalism.
