I don't see how this portrays those with lighter than bronze skin to be less valuable. It looks more that the poster advertises the ease with which someone can get tanned - with a "single" text. The model used is the same for both tan/not tan, making both options seem equally valued. If the model for tan/not tan was different in some way, then this interpretation would make more sense, but I just don't see it otherwise.

personally, i don't see how someone could look at this advertisement and say "yep, this will DEFINITELY attract people to our tanning salon." the ad is portraying avery harmful beauty standard that tanner girls are prettier or more valuable then paler girls.

First of all, why would the girls do tanning when they are beautiful inside and out. Now they're just thinking about being beautiful outside because they are insecure to the other girls who's more aggressive that's not thinking properly. When girls have an idol they copying their idols, even it cost a lot of money, but she didn't think that she is beautiful no matter what. This ad makes girls feel more insecure and they're just saying all tan girls are pretty, but they are wrong because all girls are pretty and beautiful. It's not because you have a tan skin you can have a lot of confidence to make your body see by many people.

This particular picture can be harmful to the population. I can see how it is promoting a one perspective view of what is beautiful and what is not.
