Background Information
This image was used in the Washington Post and was created by Ann Telnaes. The message is intended for those who believe Donald Trump got rid of evidence during his impeachment trial, to those who believe this the cartoon would be seen as funny and true. The genre is a political cartoon and describes an occurrence within politics that was controversial and talked about by many. This political cartoon depicts a distressed Donald Trump shredding "evidence", most likely referring to the lack of evidence that was able to be found when people were trying to impeach him.
Technique Used
Attack Opponents
This is propaganda because
This form of propaganda looks to attack Donald Trump as well as those who support him by showing him ripping up documents to try and get rid of evidence as to not be impeached. This cartoon could be viewed as harmful if you are in support of Donald Trump but beneficial and comedic if you do not support him or his actions. They used pathos but in terms of negative emotions because people could possibly feel angry towards Donald Trump for what he is doing in the image and it could also invoke negative emotions in those who feel attacked by the propaganda because they are in support of Trump. I would say this piece of propaganda does not create a more diverse or inclusive space throughout where it circulates because it is attacking a former president and could result in many emotions from different groups of people.
