Gender Bias in Videogames

Background Information
I found this image on America Pink and while it looks factual, the ratio of female gamers to male gamers is actually false.
Technique Used
Simplify Ideas
This is propaganda because
It is using false information to try and prove their point. The ratio is more around 43 women to 57 men.

Well, America.pink is a website that does not give the identity or credentials of its administrators. Based on the poor English and solicitation of advertising in its "About" section I would trust it far less than the data source, which is a reputable science magazine called New Scientist. It's entirely likely that America.pink took this statistic out of context or perhaps found an outdated statistic. New Scientist is a British publication so perhaps the statistic is correct, but representative of British/UK Citizens or is a worldwide statistic. It is at least as likely in this case that propaganda is originating from America.pink as it is originating from New Scientist.

This message qualifies as propaganda because it is trying to persuade developers and designers to include more diversity in games. The information would be beneficial if it were not false. It is selling the message by using statistics that are not quite true. It is also using the emotional appeal of pity because if people see how low representation numbers are, they may fix it by including more groups of people in future games.

This is propaganda because they are trying to convince people that games are more sexist by stating the false ratio of female characters to male characters. It's harmful because is will give producers bad names for info that isn't even true to being with. It's attempting to sell the money by reaching towards female equality which is a rising problem in our newer generations. They are trying to get women to feel like game creators don't think they matter when in fact they do because there are many girl characters in games.

There selling false info to you so you believe that all men play video games more than women do, so the point of the ad is all "men" play video games. Associations, because they want more women to buy video game consoles

This form of propaganda is associations because it's trying to say that men and the race of them is more overpowering the girls in ratio. It is showing that to make more women and the minority races to buy more games to even out the ratio.

This is propaganda because the information they are giving to us is false, they're just saying this to get whatever they want to achieve done. I find this harmful because it is incorrect, they're lying to people about the ratios of people who play games. They're "selling" the message because some people believe this is true and they just want to go against something when they're not educated about it because they believe this to be true. I feel the emotional appeal is the appeal to social fears.

I think its propaganda of association because they're trying to say guys play more games than girls but at the same time lying because those are not actual facts.

I think that if someone was to great a different race chart between males and females they should just use more color and design.this is beneficial because someone should try to recreate this chart this an appeal of plainfolks.

This is not propaganda, because it uses incorrect information to prove a point.
This uses plainfolks to appeal to the general public.

I don't think this is propaganda because it's not persuading you to do anything.

I agree with Rich W. because it shows false facts to get more attention from the opposite gender or different races to get them to buy more of their games to get more money. I disagree with the appeal to social fears because it is more towards association because it's using a chart and video games and skin color and races to get more people to buy their games to even out the ratio between races.

i agree with Haley G, because she makes a good point about the company using false info to get more people to buy their products. although i do disagree with the emotional appeal she thought the message was aiming at. i feel that the emotional appeal aims towards associations, due to the fact they're using false statistic in hope to get a bigger majority of girl gamers to buy their products.

I dont think its propaganda because its giving false information and its being sexiest. I find it harmful because its lying to people. They're selling the message to people to get them to think it is true. I think it is association because they are trying to give off a positive symbol.
