While comparing my rating to others', I noticed that my rating was 20% of the total number of individuals who voted whereas 80% of individuals thought it was beneficial. I thought this was tricky because similar things are done with nicotine products as well such as ecigs/vapes. I personally feel as though this can get very contradictory seeing how they are the same thing whereas one is viewed as positive and the other is viewed negatively. Regardless, thinking back I would definitely change my rating from the dot to the right of beneficial to entirely "beneficial." Individuals should know what they're getting themselves into ahead of time and how it can unfortunately leads to cancer/other harmful diseases. I think this is something that we advertise, yet focus the least on because we rely on those advertisements to convince/persuade individuals. They are cheap, easily accessible, and give you a "buzz" that you cannot get elsewhere. I think there tends to be too much marketing and advertisements for them, but not against them. If we know something is very harmful towards our body and can cause a number of health issues/concerns, then why would we want this? There is one simple answer to this, which is "because of advertising and marketing." As my rating was very similar/close to everyone else, I am assuming that we all have the same mindset about smoking cigarettes. What is important is not the cigarette itself, but the harmful effects that it can have on your body over time. It's not just the physical aspect of smoking however, but the mental as well. This should encourage those who do smoke to consider quitting and hopefully remind them of how short life can be. This message of propaganda clearly attempts to influence individuals who do smoke cigarettes and demonstrates how propaganda is not only relevant but ultimately everywhere in our lives.

The "How Long Can You Live" piece of propaganda was a great example of how pathos is involved. I rated this beneficial. This made me want to tell people that smoke that they need to stop immediately If a smoker saw this, it could encourage them to quit based on the feelings the image gave them.

I rated this as beneficial because in my opinion and according to facts, smoking can reduce your life expectancy. This picture is showing and telling that the more you smoke the less you are likely to live as long. My rating was beneficial because it should worry people that smoking is dangerous. 80% of us chose beneficial, 13% chose the button one over to the right, and 7% leaned more towards harmful.
