Lies in the Media

Background Information
In this particular tweet, one woman named Tracie Putnam quote tweeted back to Amber Reynolds who is a democracy and voting innovator. This message is intended for anyone who goes on social media seeing how it is centered around news media. Anyone who goes on Twitter, is geared towards politics, or engaged in different news media outlets could all be considered the intended audience. The purpose of this message is to both inform and warn the public of the various news sources around us. The message behind the photograph is essentially telling the public to be careful where they get their news and who they trust. Seeing how this came right from a popular social media website, it can be assumed that multiple different audiences will see this message.
Technique Used
Attack Opponents
This is propaganda because
This Twitter quote tweet is propaganda because it is influencing the public to do something. More specifically, it is encouraging the public to second guess where they choose to receive their information via news outlets. It is also arguing in some form/way with their opponent, which in this case was Amber Reynolds. When thinking about the ethos from this thread on Twitter, it can get difficult in this case since Tracie Putnam does not have a relevant or realistic biography. To add, she does not have more than 100 followers which can risk her credibility towards her audience. The logos can be somewhat strong/accurate due to the fact that her argument is not necessarily wrong. There are plenty of statistics that support multiple news media outlets having false/misled information to viewers. The pathos is not exactly important due to the fact that she is not necessarily imposing emotion on this message. Lastly, I do think she was successful using kairos as it can spark conversations among individuals regarding actions/decisions such as following or unfollowing certain news report outlets. This can be seen as harmful due to the fact that it can easily spark backlash from representatives of news outlets. Finally, this is most certainly trying to influence both public opinion and behavior. They are not only trying to warn the public and have them reconsider their media options, but they are also encouraging behavior change as well. It is not only the mindset of news media outlets that they want to change but the physical aspect of watching them as well.
