Background Information
This image was found on Twitter and intended for anyone who has a Twitter account, is interested in sustainability, or searches anything that has to do with propaganda. This individual, Paul Jimerson is an environmental photographer that specializes in sustainability. He used a hashtag in this tweet that read "#Propaganda." The purpose behind this message is to encourage individuals to reduce their waste and to recycle. It looks as though this poster is nailed on something outside that seems to lead towards a trail. I personally liked that he included promoting positive sustainability outdoors. This was obviously intended seeing how individuals usually litter outside and do not think twice after. This positively reinforces the importance behind recycling and how we are protecting our environment. As Twitter is a popular social media website, this message will most definitely reach individuals and later prove to be useful and effective.

This is propaganda because
Richard Alan Nelson defined propaganda as "a form of purposeful persuasion that attempts to influence the emotions, attitudes, opinions, and actions of specified target audiences for ideological, political, or commercial purposes through the controlled transmission of one sided messages..." In this case, the author of this tweet intended to persuade individuals to start becoming more mindful of their environmental decisions. As this poster is nailed outside, it is also convenient seeing how individuals tend to see the most trash outside / near any body of water. This message had an effective use of ethos seeing how Paul Jimerson has credibility in the sustainability field. As he is reinforcing the importance behind sustainability, he is credible seeing how his career revolves around sustainability. Next, his use of logos was extremely effective in my opinion. Not only does the location of the poster have meaning, but so does the message itself on it. It does not have too much going on, nor is it not enough to influence individuals. More importantly, it encourages individuals to reconsider some of their environmental choices and hopefully gets them thinking about their short and long term decisions. Personally I feel as though the pathos is dependent on the specific audience member. For example, I am someone who can read something and instantly become emotional if there is meaning behind it. My roommate does not feel as though these are effective in channeling her emotions so it definitely differs. Lastly the use of kairos was very relevant seeing how this poster encourages both physical and mental change. This is beneficial seeing how we should all care about our environment and what happens to our ecosystem. Seeing how it affects all of us and the way that we live our lives, this message should influence both public opinion and behavior change.
