This image comes from the original world war one propaganda done by James Montgomery Flagg's iconic "I Want You" recruitment poster. This is a more modern rendition on this 1917 ideal by having Uncle Sam give a thumbs up above nine essential workers needed durning these covid-19 troubling times. The message is saying that if you help follow these mask mandates/health guidelines and stay home orders otherwise called quarantine you can help those essential workers stay healthy enough to remain out fighting these virus battles.

I rated this in the middle of beneficial and harmful. I did this because I was not sure how to feel about it. I did not understand this at first but I did some research and it started to make more sense. I think it has a great message behind it. It means to follow the rules to do someone else a favor. Even if we do not want to quarintine, it is the right thing to do because there is front Line workers out there who have to risk there lives everyday and do not get the choice to stay inside and stay healthy.

Overall I rated this propaganda example as one bar to the right of "beneficial." 33% of individuals voted the same as me whereas 67% of individuals rated it right in the middle. Honestly I agree with the middle more than I do with my rating now that I saw the results. I think it's hard to rate anything that has to do with COVID-19 as completely beneficial or completely harmful. It goes to show that some examples are "better" or "more effective" than others and diminishes the message itself. Not to mention, it distracts the reader/viewer from what's actually important. I agree with this rating because he is not necessarily telling the public to do something, nor is he laying off COVID-19 and treating it like it does not matter. This example of propaganda goes to show that some can be influential and persuasive and some are just a matter of opinion or preference. For me, I think this would be more on the beneficial side seeing how I am a health care worker and want nothing more than to keep everyone safe and healthy. On the other hand, someone who might not have had similar experiences might feel different which is entirely okay. The only difference is that we are not bashing each other's views or judging one another for thinking differently. I think this example and explanation of propaganda proves that there are positive ways to go about promoting these propaganda examples to social media websites.
