Tax Increase

Background Information
This website says "taxes are bad" and that's vastly oversimplifying the issue. This is harmful propaganda because it encourages people to take action without knowing both sides of the issue.
Technique Used
Simplify Ideas
This is propaganda because
This website invites people to write to their state legislators to stop increased taxes. I clicked a link from a Twitter post. It was created by Americans For Prosperity but there is no information about this organization online.

This is a form of propaganda because it is trying to inform you that taxes are to high and need to be stopped. It could be harmful because they could be scammers. They give you inform about what they "heard". This is an example of appeal to force.

This qualifies as propaganda because it attempts to persuade your opinion on something
It could be both harmful and beneficial, depending on your side of raising taxes
Saying it would be harmful to you, if taxes were to increase
appeal to social fears and pity

This is appeal to authority or experts because it's trying to make us do something to support their spam website which is an unknown or not even an organization. They want to make us believe that the government is taking are money which is true in many ways, so we could support them and make us cautious.

I agree with Matt.W because he said it's stupid to raise taxes, and he's most definitely right because a family could really be struggling to pay their bills and i'm sure they would make their lives worser than it already is.

this is propaganda because its showing what might be happening without us knowing it.this is harmful because there is only one side to the story and there is no actual evidence. The emotional appeal is force because if you don't take action you will have to pay higher taxes.

I think this is propaganda - and a harmful use of it - because it is very immaturely written. Firstly, it lists random, childish examples of what will be taxed such as cigarettes, horses and netflix. Right of the bat, this piece loses credibility with me. It also doesn't present the other side of the argument - what are the taxes going to do for the state? Maybe the extra money is needed to better the state. It also over generalizes too much when it says "taxes will only hurt individuals..."

I agree with the original uploader's assessment--this piece has a strong call to action and an emotional appeal to frugality, but presents an extremely limited view of the facts.

I find this screenshot of the website to be harmful. This website clearly is just rambling off random information without any sources to back up what they are saying. The website is a petition to deny the increase of taxes in the state of Oklahoma. The writer exclaims that if taxes were to be increased in would be used for taxing "horses, haircuts, and even services like netflix". This sentence alone makes absolutely no sense and is not credible. The website also doesn't inform the reader to why the government is wanting to raise taxes. Oklahoma could be raising taxes to benefit the state. This piece of writing is filled with propaganda and is not a credible source of information
