HPV Vaccine

Context
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) can cause cancer and genital warts and is passed from one person to another during sexual contact. HPV can cause cancer of the cervix, vulva and vagina in women; and cancer of the penis in men. In both men and women, HPV can cause anal cancer and mouth/throat cancer. In the United States each year, there are about 17,500 women and 9,300 men affected by HPV-related cancers. HPV vaccines can prevent infections caused by the major strains of HPV that cause cancer later in life. However, the HPV vaccine is optional, so this campaign is urging parents to make their kids get it.
