Trump was the president who governed the United States for three years. The audience was his fanbase, or followers if you would like to call them that. The post was meant to uplift American patriotism but as well as vividly pin the blame on Chinese people for the outbreak of COVID. This is a social media post that he posted on Twitter.

Trump never provided any factual or scientific evidence to back up this absurd claim. The first strand of covid was reported to have been found in the wastewater in Spain between January 2018 and December 2019. Trump, as the president, heavily uses ethos to get his point across. He is in a higher position than all citizens, so to some misinformed people his opinion matters and should not be questioned. It is harmful because what he said has been used to attack East and Southeast Asian communities, softening these victims are beaten up, and even killed because of Trump's influence.

    This tweet was likely effective propaganda that could potentially have some minor harm because it used the phrase Chinese Virus, but also promoted unity and growth among the U.S. Although Trump did not outline how he would support industries affected by COVID, what measures were being taken, etc. this lip service isn't particularly harmful (also not particularly helpful.) It might have been effective in creating some support among his existing base supporters. The only arguable harm could be calling COVID the Chinese Virus as it could incite negative Chinese American sentiment. While this is possible, I do not think a correlation could truly be shown by the use of the phrase Chinese Virus and negative Chinese American sentiment.
