    Using shock to scare people into behavior change is effective - but it's definitely manipulative, too. I think many people resent their emotions being used in this way.

    i think that this is a very beneficial commerical because it teach people to not talk and drive because it can risk you and others life.

    This commercial uses the scare tactic to inform people to just not use phones at all when driving. In the end of the ad it says "hands free isn't risk free." meaning that just because your not holding the phone doesn't mean your 100% focused on driving. It could lead to death.

    i think it was benefical and harmful at the same time because it was telling that more people will watch what they doing its harmful because she was talking and driving and crashed.

    I find this commercial leans more toward the beneficial side. The propaganda technique does activate strong emotions. It uses fear and the dangers of distracted driving to get the message across. That message is “Calls Kills: Hands-free is not risk-free.” The message is also reinforced by showing the mother using a hands-free device and still getting into an accident.

    I found this advertisement to be very emotional, yet impactful. It sends out an important message on how hands- free calls or not risk- free. I find the scare tactic to be effective.

    While I agree that distracted driving is dangerous no matter what, I'm of the opinion that hands-free phone calls pose a significantly smaller risk than using a handheld device. The ad does a good job of tugging at the heartstrings because of the baby, but I'm not sure how serious I'd take the ad after some further consideration.

    This ad is very successful I think. It delivered the message through a little baby. And the ad's slogan in the end said, hands free doesn't mean risk free. The crash in the end is regretting.

    The main thing is focusing on what you are doing. No call is worth losing someone's life. My rating was beneficial compare to many others because it's showing people the danger of not texting or driving.

    This video is saying that talking while driving is dangerous, even when your hands aren't on your phone, because it stills distracts you from the road and accidents can occur.

    This ad uses an extreme form of activating an emotional response. The recipient of this would likely be left feeling fearful for a while afterward, and therefore avoid the action later. However, it's interesting that it is based on hands-free driving, and my initial thought is what the statistics are on how often this leads to accidents, especially as opposed to being physically on a phone. I wonder if someone that saw this might avoid hands-free and talk on their cellphone, which seems more dangerous to me. While in a perfect world no driver would talk on the phone, it's still going to happen, and I wonder if there might have been a better way to portray this.

    This is beneficial but I see some flaws in it. I definitely agree that any thing that is distracting you while driving is dangerous but I can see where someone would argue that hands free driving is no different than listening to music. Where are the statistics on the number of people who drive while listening to music? It would have been nice to see some numbers in this. However I concluded that it's beneficial because this a very real problem in the US as a whole the number of deaths from phone calls.

    This commercial uses the strategy of scaring people. This made me never want to talking on the phone while I am driving and will probably remain in my head for a long time. I think that was the goal of that.

    The idea of "hands-free" operation of your cell phone has this connotation with being completely safe. This video is clarifying this misconception. However easy it may be to pick up your phone through your vehicle, there are still the risk factors of you, the operator of the vehicle, being distracted by now multitasking. It is irrelevant whether you are physically on the phone or not, being distracted is being distracted. Helping the audience realize the error in their thinking will save lives.
