This was definitely a beneficial piece of propaganda because it is a symbol of awareness. Almost everyone chose beneficial because it is a sign of spreading peace and it highlights on global terrorism and how instead, we should have peace. There are no words, instead, the picture does all the talking. The picture defines a world of peace especially in Paris because it was the most recent target of terrorism.

I do not think this is considered propaganda. Usually, propaganda is used for misleading messages or biased political point of view. This sign illustrates the terrorist event that occurred in Italy. Personally, I don’t think this sign could be harmful. In my opinion, this sign is meant to bring support and hope to all those affected during this terrorist attack. Like I mentioned, this sign could help all those seeking comfort. Not that this sign can “literally” help, but it can bring inner hope to those seeking it. Also, using this icon shows support and compassion to those that lost their lives or lost someone during this event. The terrorist attack in Italy lead to the creation to this example. The types of mental processing this example appeals to most is the central route. The central route usually reflects the idea inside the message; direct. For example, this example incorporates the Eiffel Tower inside the peace sign. Not only does it create an impact, but it is also act as great marketing technique. Right off the bat, the initial meaning of the message is “peace.” However, incorporating the Eiffel Tower inside the Peace Sing creates a deeper meaning than “peace.” It promotes the message of tolerance and non-violence.

I know this is propaganda because it invites a population to respond emotionally towards the terrorism in Paris. It was created quickly after the event; therefore, people who saw it knew what it stood for. It is not intended to be harmful. However, it does recognize a harmful event which may trigger sad, angry, or frustrated emotions of others. These emotions are part of being human. To clarify, the image helps people realize that the victims in Paris are prayed for, thought of, and/or noticed.
In correlation with the ELM model, this image of the Eifel Tower mixed with a peace sign has a high motivational factor. It requires deep processing about the message itself (keeping the victims at heart). The persuasion outcome then becomes one that resists offense. The mental processing with this design has to do with pathos. The message is persistent because it recognizes the victims and the desire for peace.

This is propaganda because it is influencing the population to exercise peace and prayer for Paris. Many people who re-posted this with the hashtag #prayforparis and it became a unity of the people. This is also propaganda because it is influencing the behaviors of others to come together and uphold Paris in a rough time. I don't see the sign as harmful, it is a sign of support and love toward Paris in its time of need. This is awareness about terrorism. I guess one possibility would be this sign turning into a sign against terrorism, resulting in Paris being the advocate for terrorism by default. It can be helpful because its bringing everyone together and creating unity between countries. Creating this peaceful protest symbol against terrorism can lead to more similarities than differences between counties. A situation as drastic as this one is what created the symbol. Often times tragedy is what brings people together and unfortunately Paris was the one that took the hit. The type of mental processing this symbol stands for is the central route. The Eifel Tower becoming the peace sign shows a motivation for peace all around. This puts forth the message that Paris wants to exercise peace not terrorism hatred. This symbol may seem simple in structure but the meaning behind it is much stronger than that.

This is an example of propaganda because its spreading the message of peace and unity. Hashtags of #prayforparis #prayfortheworld starting surfacing all throughout social media as a call of unity within all communities and as a cry out for peace and tranquility in a time of uncertainty and fear among people in all countries. I don’t think this image can be harmful, I feel like it’s a way to show solidarity with Paris during such a tragic time. This image can be helpful because it is promoting a common belief during scary times like the Paris attacks where people feel uncertain and fear for what is ahead. Obviously this image in no way can help in any way to those affected, but it’s like telling someone at a funeral that you are with them during that hard time. That in no way lessens the pain of losing a loved one but you offer them that support that you stand with them during that hard time. The terrorist attacks were the reason for the creation of this example and a similar type of image reappeared when the san Bernardino shootings happened. Once again to show the pain for the killing of many people and as a sign of solidarity for the loss of innocent lives. This example follows the peripheral mental processing route because this image is meant to be more reflective. This type of mental processing enables the persistence of this message because all people want is peace. Whether stricter gun measures or a crackdown on terrorists is in place, people from different countries want to be able to feel safe in their own homes and not fear what is to come next from the countries enemies

**my comment wasn't finished** I don't see how it could be harmful or beneficial. I can piece together that Paris is supposed to be peaceful. But I don't believe its propaganda at all. When I imagine propaganda I think of something that's typically bad; especially since our definition includes ethically suspect strategies of persuasion. I can't see this being ethically suspect at all. It can be helpful because it shows the world that Paris was a victim and that the terrorists have no simply for the innocent. The innocence being allocated from the peace sign in the picture. The picture was created in direct result of the terrorist attacks. It is an attempt to unit countries against terrorism. To me this picture can appeal to both the central and peripheral route of the ELM. It’s central because the attack was such a focus area of everyone that they’re high interest level causes them to process it more centrally, but this picture is also peripheral because even if the person isn’t interested in it the picture could have them thinking in the back of their head.

I know this is propaganda because this is a symbol trying to send a message to to the audience about what is going on in the world, in this case, the attacks in Paris. It also reminds everybody about the unfortunate terrorism that goes on in the world. This could be harmful because perhaps for the people who were part of the attack it can make them feel emotional. This could be helpful because when images like these are passed around through social media, they can spread awareness of what is going on across the world so people won’t be ignorant to the issues. The situation that leads to the creation of this if for people to have empathy or perhaps when people see this it makes them want to pray. The type of mental processing that this appeals to the most is the central route to persuasion because when you see this message it makes you think about everything else going on in the world. This type of mental processing means that the more the messengers understand the situation, the less likely they are to be influenced by outside factors.

This picture is propaganda because it uses a well-known symbol of France and peace together to make the audience more aware of terrorism. The image could not be harmful because it is used to spread peace and awareness. It is helpful because the image was shared to everyone through social media. It allowed its audience to be more understanding and become more involved. The terrorists attacks around the world led to the creation of this, but for this example it was when Paris had a terrorist attack in November of last year. The mental processing of this is peripheral because the audience now will see this picture and understand what the purpose of the image is. However, I believe in the future it may be central because it would require background information to understand. The persistence of the message is high. It is demanding attention and awareness.

I believe this is propaganda because it successfully uses its techniques by activating strong emotions. Because it was such a horrific event, it appealed to the public easily. I don’t believe this was harmful propaganda just because it embodies a symbol of peace. I believe this could be helpful in many ways, because since this was a tragic event, I could help relay peace to the rest of the world. This painting was made because of the terrorist attacks that killed and inured many people. This ad appeals most to the central route processing because it would have a longer lasting effects. This just means that the message they were tryng to convey will have longer lasting effects.

I feel that it is an important way to inform the audience, its educating and spreading awareness to a global crisis that happens everyday. It is a peaceful way to show that global terrorism is and still a huge aspect in our daily lives. I feel that is an important form of propaganda because it shows an illustration that brings out social awareness and I do not think this illustration brings out negativity in any way at all. If anything it bring awareness to those who are not aware of this attack in Paris it makes people want to look beyond the norm and see what terrorism bring in our society. Using The ELM model it uses the central route because the illustration shows us and elaborates a great understanding of the tragic incident that has happened in the terrorist attack in Paris.

This image gave me a hard time at first when I was trying to figure out whether this was a form of propaganda or not. But I've come to the realization that even beneficial things can be viewed as propaganda. Is this image a harmful representation of propaganda? No, its actually beneficial because it exudes the need for peace. I feel that this sign however does play to peoples emotions and anxieties about the Paris attacks and is targeted to swaying the minds of politicians who are in favor of war in my eyes. It is the publics crying out for peace. I believe it a form of central processing route because you start to think of those around you, you care for and the safety of those close to you .This type of mental processing means that the more the messengers understand the situation, the less likely they are to be influenced by outside factors.

The artwork of the Eiffel Tower combined with the peace sign is propaganda because it evokes a lot of emotion. It activates sadness, but also a sense of unity. It could be harmful in the sense that it excludes other terrorist attacks, but it did not get as much media attention and support like Paris did. It is a kind of exclusion, intentional or not. It is helpful because it brings a sense of unity, because while terrorist attacks occur, people all over the world used this symbol to show their support for Paris, and how everyone is united when danger is upon us. The social issue of terrorist attacks heavily influenced this image, because everyone just wants a sense of peace for once. This is an example of central processing because it is simple, but forces the consumer to connect the image to the terrible events that happened. It resonates with people, and therefore will have a lasting message.

I believe that this image of the Eiffel Tower with a peace sign is an image of propaganda because it sends a strong message that represents the inhumane acts of terrorism toward Paris. It is a strong message that has strong symbolism attached to it. I'm not sure if this image can be harmful, maybe to the terrorist because they don't want peace. This message is actually very helpful. It gives hope for Paris and even though it is just a picture, it stands out very bold for peace in their nation. Social forces that have created this image were the terrorist attacks made in Paris that resulted in hundreds of deaths. According to the ELM model, I believe that this message involves cognitive elaboration because it reflects on the horrible events that happened. It is a message with high involvement because many people are thriving for peace.

I know this is propaganda due to the alterations of the original image. Changing the universally known “peace sign”, into the Eifel Tower, to ask for peace within that nation. This example also would like to produce some sympathy of its recent turmoil. The propaganda is not harmful in any way and promotes peace and is beneficial. This example is brought on by recent terrorist attacks in that nation.

This is propaganda because it activates strong emotions, it is aimed towards influencing those who see it, and remind them of the terrorist attacks in Paris. The Eiffel Tower embedded with the peace sign is helpful because it shows that Paris sill stands, and that they are raising awareness of such events, and the devastation they cause, as well as calling for peace and unity. This sign also serves as a form of Paris not tolerating or letting terrorists win by trying to divide people with their attacks. This example appeals to most to central processing because it requires people who see it to put effort into processing what this sign refers to, and then reflect on the events that happened that brought this sign into existence. Since it is via central processing the persistence of persuasion can last longer. This sign was all over social media as well, making it even more persistent., and effective since it brings up the emotions of the terrorist attack resulting in numerous deaths.

This photo of the Eiffel Tower and a peace sign was created to represent the bombings that happened in Paris. It is propaganda as it causes anyone affected in the attack to feel a righteous anger towards those who instigated the attack. It is helpful because it creates a sense of unity between everyone who was affected by the attack. It also serves as a symbol to draw attention to the event for people who weren’t aware of it, or the implications that it had. I can’t see any harm coming out of this image beside the pain associated with it, however, I see that as helpful as it draws people to come together in memory of lost loved ones. I believe it is an example of central processing, as it requires the viewer to make an active connection in the brain — they require outside information to understand what is going on in the picture, versus just being able to passively absorb ideas from it. It also plays to powerful emotions, and so that will cause the person’s brain to become very active when looking at the picture.
