This is propaganda because
This image is propaganda because it targets a specific audience (youth) to "unite" & promotes the cause of marriage equality by appealing to "authority" (Beyonce). It also frames the issue as one of "marriage equality" rather than of "gay rights."

I see after looking at the ratings that people are totally for this or totally against it. Although I do believe it is beneficial, it does possibly give the notion that same sex marriage should be encouraged even more that non same sex marriage.

This image uses popular culture to identify with the masses. It being beneficial or harmful depends on the beliefs of the individual voting but either way it reaches the audience.

This is a great piece of propaganda for gay rights because it makes the issue of gay marriage clear without using the word "gay". Since most anti-gay rights thinkers seem to be turned off instantly when the word "gay" is uttered, I think this ad was a great way to get people to think about the real issue rather than think about rights for people you may not agree with.

Really targeting a certain age group with a fun and catchy song. It's already legal in some states so what's the reason behind this campaign?

I think that this ad is beneficial because Rock the Vote who is geared towards a younger generation was able to make a political point about gay marriage by just changing a few words to a very popular Beyoncé song about “put a ring on it”. Most people of a younger generation would understand this ad, as they would be able to recall the song and the lyrics, whereas someone from an older generation may not. The ad also made sure to put a hashtag at the bottom to make sure that it would be talked about and gain more popularity which is beneficial as well because younger generations are the ones that use Twitter the most.

I love this because it targets one particular demographic and uses a line that is familiar with them. Not only is it witty, it also gets the point across very well.

I am so happy about this law that was passed because I do 100% believe that if you like it, you should be able to put a ring on it ;)

I think this is a great use of propaganda. It uses pop culture references that most people can recognize while also promoting a positive, effective message

I like this piece because it is relatable and clever--it confronts the heteronormative culture behind the Beyonce song in a way that is playful but nonetheless poignant.

I think that this style of propaganda is one that is wholeheartedly altruistic; I particularly like that it does indeed campaign for marriage equality in all directions using pop culture. Excellent audience targeting.

I can't really see anything harmful about this piece. And I'd argue that it accomplishes what the prompt asserts it's trying to accomplish: target youth with a positive and easy share/understand message.

Although I understand and agree with the overall idea of marriage equality, I think this add over simplifies the cause.

It isn't harmful, because it isn't directly attacking any certain beliefs. It is simply saying that marriage equality should be a right that everyone has.
