Wear a mask. Protect Each Other | #movewhatmatters | Uber

Achtergrondinformatie
Uber created this ad to promote customers along with drivers to wear a mask. This was created in July, 2020, which was amidst the heat of the first COVID quarantine period. When you wear a mask, you are protecting someone else, but when you both wear masks you're protecting each other.

Overall I rated this propaganda example in the middle of being beneficial and harmful. The reason I didn't think that it was entirely beneficial was because COVID-19 can become opinionated and cause a lot of issues/problems for some individuals. Some may see it as a political scheme or have their own personal opinions, therefore it can lead to difficult conversations. I didn't want to say that it was entirely harmful either because statistics single handily prove how COVID-19 has affected us and taken many lives. When COVID-19 first started we were all on the same page due to the fact that none of us had any idea what was actually going on. Now, there are restrictions and guidelines that come with COVID-19 that not all of us can collectively agree on. As 50% of the answers were the same as mine and the other 50% came from the next button to the right (one away from harmful) I think my answer relates to others' and that we all had similar opinions on this example of propaganda. I don't think that anyone wanted to risk stepping on other people's toes or getting into too much controversy over COVID-19 specifically. I think the important message that this example of propaganda is trying to do is spread awareness of COVID-19. They were not encouraging individuals to get the vaccine, nor were they telling people what to do with their lives. Rather, they were spreading awareness on how to protect others which differs from intentionally telling people what to do. This message demonstrates how easily persuadable some messages can be and how COVID-19 is now everywhere in our lives. Two years ago none of us even knew what COVID-19 was or what it does, and now it is essentially everywhere in our everyday lives.

This gets tricky of course because of people have different views on wearing masks. I have my own opinion but in regards to this commercial, it can be both beneficial and harmful depending on your view. 50% of people were leaving more towards harmful and 50% were right in the middle. Masks have turned into political and there is no right or wrong answer in my opinion. I agree that this is appealing to a specific audience. This definitely bothers people who are 100& against masks.
