US regulators worry manufacturers are using bots on social media to spread propaganda about the safety of e-cigarettes. House Energy and Commerce Committee has asked to see marketing budgets of five major e-cigarette manufacturers to look for suspicious behavior. The issue has risen in importance after a CDC report attributed 26 deaths to vaping. Both the FTC and the Massachusetts attorney general have asked to see e-cigarette manufacturer marketing budgets.
